Sofia: A cautionary tale of deception and naivety

Introduction

My name is Matt and I want to share the story about me communicating with a girl and losing a lot of money. I want this to be purely evidence based, but I will provide my commentary as well.

Some time ago I have started communicating with a girl who introduced herself as Sofia and said she is from Kyiv. I have become fond of her and started financially supporting her. She claimed to be from Ukraine and also claimed that she does not have money for food, rent and medical bills. She claimed that she has cancer and I was emotionally manipulated into believing her long enough to send her a lot of money.

After long time I was able to find out that her name is Хижняк Софія Олександрівна (Sofia Khyzhniak) from and that she is from Кременчук (Kremenchuk)

Later I have found official social media of this girl and found out that she has relatively large following. Based on what is presented on her social media publicly and on the evidence of the chatting I concluded that I was being deceived.

Presented evidence

I have screenshots of communication from Instagram as well as chat exports from Telegram. The Telegram exports are quite extensive with lots of chatting, photos, videos and voice messages. Due to sensitive nature of some of the messages and the huge amount, I will present only the most relevant evidence – the evidence of potentially fraudulent behaviour.

The other part of the evidence is of public nature and consists of social media of the girl that I was (presumably) talking to. This will provide further context of the lies.

The goal and reason behind the website

The goal is to document the lies and misleading conversation that happened to me via collected evidence and my commentary. To potentially warn other people so that they do not fall into same traps and do not fall for the same lies.

Maybe someone had same or similar experience with this girl or other girls on the internet. At the same time I want to bring this problem and this case into attention for Sofia and/or person I was communicating with and who was misleading me. I am hoping to believe that this can be resolved without involving of the law enforcement. I invite anyone to correct me or to provide further evidence.

Proposed structure and content of the website

The website should contain basic information about the case and full timeline. I will present evidence of the communication and main points where I was being lied to and manipulated. I will also provide commentary to provide further context.
